My BDR recently developed this nasty rough sound. I always run it clean, but all of a sudden there was a bad distortion, more obvious if I hit a chord than if I was pick out notes.

Took it to a repair man. He said some piece was loose and it was rattling against the speaker whenever. He fixed it, but said it might happen again. The only permanent solution was to sauder something in there that would disable the pre-amp out function.

Anyone heard of this? Is it common? Thinking I just need a new amp.

Also read some reviews that says the think simply gets muddy when you crank it over four. I might just be dealing with that. New amp time.

That didn't make a lick of sense.

Can either of you confirm or deny my second post?

Do these amps typically get muddy at high volumes?

if it didn't sound like it before why would it be normal now?

haven't you ever cranked it up until now?

i'd roll a few new preamp tubes through it and see what shakes out.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.
