based on the cheapo clones i've tried (joyo and mooer) i'd say the rat.

obviously that's not as useful as having tried the "real things".
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

I own both. The rat has a wider array of tones it can get away with. It can do cranked amp kinda overdrive, somewhat heavy distortion, and saturated fuzzy distortion.

However, the ocd sounds better to me in the "cranked amp" sound to mid gain sounds.

Also, I use a combo if a ts9 running into an ocd. This combo to me has a certain midrange that gives it a bigger sound than the rat.

I like both. If I had a bigger board they would both be in it, but the ocd is the winner for now.

Yeah the rat is absolutely killer in that it's so versatile (and also its filter/tone knob is so wide-ranging that it works with most guitars and amps, too). but as you said, some other pedals sometimes beat it for very specific tones or situations.

What about running the gain higher and turning your guitar's volume knob down?
