Don't know how it's mix with the 5150, but Kranks either have Legend V12's or Texas Heats. They'll both handle it.

^ or just buy a cheap harley benton g112 and get a legend v12/texas heat, though I'd suggest the v12.

Was thinking of grabbing something like this http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_g112_lowend_unloaded.htm

since its a big ish 1x12 then get a v12.

Or get the HB v30 1x12 and the v12 then id have a V30 going free should i ever need it. or sell it.

Cheers guys

I'd say stick away from the harley vintage, as it's open back.
The low end is probably a nice cheap idea though. I like the idea of a V12, nice and cheap and sounds decent. May get one for my new 1x12 cab when I convert my 6505+ 112.

If you decide on a V12, A/B it with your V30 loaded cab, gimme a pm about what it's like

I'd recommend an Eminence Swamp Thang. They have 150 watt handling and you'll be amazed at the tone. Put one in a nice oversized 112 cab and be amazed at how hard it slays...

what type of tone are you after? swamp thang sounds very different from a v12. also eminence has the rep of being a little optimistic with its wattage handling ratings (also its sensitivity ratings), so I'd maybe factory in a little margin for error if you're going to be cranking the amp. Say 150 watts just to be safe.

Tbh Dave, Im after something with a bit more lows/mids. Read the swamp thang is better for drop tunings (which i play in).

Something that goes well with the 5150ii. Ive got my Zilla 2x12 with V30s (love it to death) But for band practice im sick of lugging it around all the time so thats why i made this thread.

Find something that sounds similar to it but in a 1x12 that can handle my 5150ii's 120 wattage

No you don't do anything but pull 2 tubes, no rebiasing needed.

But you have to run your Ohm's different. If you have a 16 ohm cab you will use the 8Ohm setting on the amp, if it is a 8Ohm cab you use the 4Ohm setting. You only loose the ability to run a 4ohm load. The 16 Ohm setting becomes unused for anything.

That is all there is to it

What ohm is your 2x12 cab? if it is 16 Ohms, you will use the 8 ohms selection on the amp.

If you get a 8 ohm 1x12 you will have the amp set to 4ohms

My 2x12 is a 16ohm cab, so id run the head on 8 ohms but still plugged in as normal?

And if i get a 8 ohm 1x12 (eg i get the Harley benton cab i linked earlier and put a Swamp Thang 8 ohm in there) id run the head on 4 ohms?

yeah probably. when i got mine they could do more or less anything (though prices might be best on the stock speaker models you mentioned).

worth an email, anyway. keep an eye on their facebook page, too, sometimes they have offers there.

I ran my 100W Jet City JCA100H through a single Emi V12 without issue, so they will for sure handle 100W cranked. I've ran a 5150 120W head through the same cab as well, although we didn't crank it that night.. just normal band volume.

EDIT: The price may not reflect it, but Eminence Legend V12's are very legit speakers. Mike Soldano loads his $1,300USD 4x12 cabs with V12's

Yeah v12s are nice.

And yeah I mean maybe the v12s are the exception (or maybe the fact they're 125 watt-rated is enough margin for error). But i've heard people I trust say that they're over-rated... i know that their sensitivity ratings are optimistic.
