These are my options:

Peavey Classic 50 2X12
1962 Montgomery Ward Airline Valco
1996 Fender Bassman
Line 6 Bogner Spider Valve
Fender Blues Deluxe
Randall RM20BP Combo
Gene Benz Black Pearl BP 30
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 111

I mainly play hard rock / grunge ala QOTSA and Soundgarden, but I'd like an amp with a solid clean channel too.

Could use your advice!

Are you limited to those?

Out of those choices, I'd take either the Classic 50 or Spider Valve. Although I've never tried the Randall. Cathbard can prolly tell you more on it.
Gibson SG Standard
Gibson Les Paul Traditional
Cort Explorer
Squire Standard Strat rebuilt with Fender USA parts
Squire Tele
Krank 1980
Orange Tiny Terror
Traynor YCV 50 Blue
Peavey Vypyr 75

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

I don't really like any of those options for what you are doing.

My excuse is that I wrote a sticky 'How to Ask for Good Advice'

What's your excuse

If your in the USA look here www.guitarcenter.com/usedgear for some of the following:
Marshall JCM2000 DSL 50/100
Marshall JCM900 MKIII
Marshall JCM900 SL-X
Laney GH50/100/100TI
Laney VH100r
Laney AOR 50/100
Krank Chadwick
Krank 1980

All of these heads can be bought for $300 on the low-end to $699. Then get a decent cab like a Marshall 1960, Marshall MF280, Krank Rev, Avatar 4x12 these are normally $250-$450

You would have a great rig for $1000 maybe a bit less and a 30 day warranty on everything you buy from them

I have a JCM2000 DSL100 and it has a great clean channel and the dirty is really nice also. I also have a Krank 1980 Jr and it will cover that ground easy.
2002 PRS CE22
2013 G&L ASAT Deluxe
2009 Epiphone G-400 (SH-4)
Marshall JCM2000 DSL100
Krank 1980 Jr 20watt
Krank Rev 4x12 (eminence V12)
GFS Greenie/Digitech Bad Monkey
Morley Bad Horsie 2
MXR Smart Gate

out of the amps mentioned (and may god help me for saying this) the Line 6 is probably the best bet. while some of the others mentioned are "better" amps per se they need a fair amound of help to give you what you want. the Valco might be fun but is wrong for what you want.

^ agreed.the L6 is probably the best option. if you are going to get the head make sure its the mkii version. the mk1's had a hard time cutting through in a mix.
