I've had a facebook for at least a few years, and now I'm starting to feel like it's just a waste of time. I spend so much time just scrolling through my newsfeed looking for something interesting but it's always mostly just attention-*****y crap. I barely post anything on there anymore anyway.

The only benefit I see to facebook for me is it keeps me up to date with bands/musicians I like. For example Periphery posted that their new release, "Clear", was streaming in full on youtube a few days ago and I wouldn't have known about this without Facebook. Aside from occasional things like that though it just seems useless.

So what do you think, Pit? Any suggestions?

This is funny because it is exactly what an obnoxious Facebook user would post.

...modes and scales are still useless.

Well at least I'm not one of the people constantly posting ON Facebook that I'm going to delete my Facebook and then not actually doing it or coming back shortly after.

Or at least I'm not one of the people constantly posting how they're "cleaning" up their friends list.

do people not realize facebook is only as shitty as the people you know?

be friends with less awful people and you wouldnt have this issue

Only add the people you actually want to talk to, and only "like" things that you're really interested in and facebook is awesome. Go and add everyone and their mother and it's a pile of shit.

Barely any of the friends I actually hang out with even have Facebook accounts because of the reasons I already mentioned.

Remove it from your favourites/quick access list. You'll find you'll be going on Facebook way less often. (If your only problem is the time you waste.)

you can remove annoying people from your news feeds, or create separate news feed groups, like for your close friends or favourite bands and just view that instead of the regular one. You can also set it up so when certain people or pages post something you get a notification, so you'd never have to go threw your news feed at all. I use a combination of the three.

Also don't just delete it. Whenever I hear some say they don't have one it just seems really odd. You either seem antisocial or like a hipster shitbag.

I delete people who like snow because I hate it.

If the only complaint you have is what there people post then just delete them. Its a great tool to keep up with bands/entertainers/random crap you're into. I haven't had one in two years but thinking of making a new account solely for those reasons.

Deleted my facebook last july after playing around with the idea for a long time. Glad I did it but I do miss some things.

I have instagram as a somewhat okay method of keeping track of my favorite bands. Facebook in unparalleled for that though. Almost the biggest reason I regret deleting mine.

Twitter I use to be a total idiot without much social reprecution. The only people that follow me on it are generally the weird kids from high school.

I was addicted to facebook and my real life was in desperate need of attention, so I deleted it just because I couldn't stop being on it all the time and wanted to focus on my own life.

I miss some people and being in the know about stuff. I feel if I didn't have an instagram, most people would have completely forgotten me, aside from my good friends. It's not a great feeling, but it's humbling for an attention ***** like me to experience that most people just dont care if I'm on their news feed or not.

But at the time, I was genuinely sick of the repetitive stupid shit people would post, even when I did delete people who were the worst offenders. I also hated how predictable people's reactions were to major events/holidays.

I shouldn't complain, I was a huge part of this problem. I was just about the worst facebook user a person could be. I did so much shit for the attention and so people could see what I was doing.

In short, it really brought out some of my worst behaviors and there were many times I made myself look like a total idiot on there. But I do miss having an easy way to see what everyone was up to.

Any time you see an annoying status, or series of status' from one person, go onto their profile page, and un-follow them by unchecking the 'follow' icon. There status updates will no longer show on your feed. Do this everytime it happens and you will find you gradually stop checking facebook as much and when you do check it, the status' are more interesting.

But hey, at least you have a 10% chance of absolutely guaranteeing failure.

Twitter is better for following musicians/news/things IMHO.

I don't post photos or "statuses" to FB, just use it to chat it with friends mostly
