Hi!

I have a peavey 6505+ 112 that I've modded into a head, and it seems to be something wrong with it.

Sometimes when I've moved it, the power tubes wont be glowing and there is no sound.

The preamp seems to be working since I am getting signal in the effects loop.

Sometimes, the tubes will turn on but it sounds really bad. And if I shake the amp a bit, the sound will turn on and off, like if something is loose.

And sometimes it works just perfect. It often switch between these states when I move it.

I've tried to switch the power tubes, but it wont make any difference.

Any advices?

Thanks!

Sounds like maybe a bad solder joint.

Take it in for repair.

Bad connection, most likely in the heater circuit. Bone simple to fix.

Thanks for the answers!

Is this something you could do on your own if you are good with soldering?
I am not, but I know someone who is. The problem might be to locate the bad connection?

Anyone with basic electronics skills and some soldering capability should be able to track down and repair the problem pretty easily, assuming it's a bad connection.

Mind, there are voltages inside that amp that WILL kill you if you're not careful, even when unplugged!
