I just bought a fender supersonic 100 412 . I have 3 questions:

First of all, it's 100w. I'm using this for metal, and I know what you're thinking. But I love v30s for my type of music. I'm really not the most knowledgeable when it comes to amps etc.. But is 100w for a cab okay? Is it fairly loud to play a small metal venue?

What does watt do to a cab? May sound a bit ambiguous, but what does the difference in wattage do to the cab?

How can I maybe increase the wattage? (If it needs to be)

cheers guys!

it is a 280 watt cab if it has V30 speakers. Wattage just tells you what the speakers can handle before they fail. You need to match the Ohms of the cab with the head. what head are you using?

My friend used a 5150II and a SS 4x12 cab and it sounded nice. The cab is a little smaller than most 4x12's but he likes it for portability

Why does the spec say 100w? :S
I haven't bought a head yet, but does it need to be >100w? But the cab is 16 ohms

Well V30's are 60 watt speakers and 60x4=240 watts (sorry I said 280, but V30's used to be 70 watts)
Most amps will run a 16Ohm's, but make sure you check. You'd be hard pressed to find an Guitar amp that will put out any where near that much power.

What amps are you looking at?

well I've been looking at a jcm2000, or a peavey 5150, 6505 or valveking 100. Will any of those do?
What is the rule of impedance? So if the cab is 240w with 16 ohms, what happens?

I have a JCM2000 DSL100 and it is a nice amp and loud as hell.

5150/6505 amps are nice, but not as versitile as the DSL

The Valveking should not even be on the list with the others

Depending on your budget, you can possibly pick up a used Mesa Boogie single recto/rectoverb head for $600-$700

I'm going to be clear, haha, I play in a drop A doom metal band. Please search up "Brutality will prevail" on youtube. They're drop a A doom metal aswell, and both the guitarists play a dsl 100 jcm2000! So I'm taking your word for this!!! :P

I think they call it the "100" because it's the matching cab of the supersonic 100 head. Not because the cab is rated for 100 watts. as robbgnarly says, it should be 240 watts so should be fine.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

I have gotten to where I tune to drop D at the lowest. I was tunning to Drop C but it gets too muddy IMO for a guitar. And I play in a Prog-Rock/Metal band that has some Stoner/Doom influences.

You may also want to look at a Used Krank 1980 $599 at www.guitarcenter.com/usedgear I have the 1980 Jr I use for band practice and it is a great Marshall-ish tone
