Hot Rod Deville 410 let me down, now I'm back to the drawing board on a new tube amp.

I really liked the way this amp sounded, volume/gain pots were precise even at lowest settings. The thing was really responsive and i could get good clean/bluesy tone even out of my old Jackson dinky.

This amp had tech diff on day 2. Specifically, it consistently made a really bad "popping" sound when switching from the clean channel. The sound spooked me and I had to return the amp before it was too late.

I almost bought an Egnater renegade 212 but I heard some bad things about the company not backing their stuff and taking a long time for repairs. I also feel like the Renegade was complex and prone to issues. It sounded oh so good, though.

I had been playing on a SS 150w 212 rocktron for a decade. Almost anything I get now is going to be better than what I've had. I had drooled over that deville for a while and now I just don't know what I want.

Someone suggested to me that it might be a good idea to wait until NAMM is over before I buy an amp.

**added info**
Budget? - up to $1500

Genres? - eclectic, but I get the most shivers when I play blues. Versatility is better but I did like the responsiveness of the HRD.

New or Used? - Preferably new, but used isn't entirely out of the question if I find a good deal on a reliable/repairable amp.

Home or Gig? versatility/capability would be best. I don't play with people a lot but I would like to be able to keep up if the occasion arose.

Closest City? Seattle

Current Gear? - mentioned on OP - Rocktron replitone 150W SS (sux)

I had a Egnater Renegade and 212 cab it sounded really good!! Although I traded it after about 8 month and the 2nd owner had to replace the power tubes within a couple month. Seems the eggy was biased pretty hot from (I'm not sure of the #s) Egnater. What's your budget??

I probably wouldn't go much over $1500. And so far Blackstars are not my thing.

With that budget, if I liked the HRD, I'd be looking for an old used Fender, maybe a Twin Reverb. It will destroy the HRD in every respect.

renegades are decent amps. i owned one for six months or so and the only reason is that i had to jump on something else that was too good to pass up.

they aren't bad, a lot for the switches and the tube mix is kind of a gimmick in some way some other things are like that too. even the rebels have the stupid wattage adjustion knob, it really doesn't do a lot.

that is just my opinion. if i needed something in the price range you are in i would probably go renegade. but there are a ton of other amps out there that may do you better.

orange? NOT the new SS models. but a Rockaverb, thunerverb, or rocker 30 and thunder 30

vox? i for some reason rarely play one, but AC30's are pretty nice.

marshall? NOT any of the new JVM's. IMO DSL's are't bad for what you can get them used, but they have a problem (IIRC it was the rectifier overheating and melting. on the older combos. ask cath for details. he can clone a JCM800 with his eyes closed and upside down.

splawn quickrod?

I suggested an old Fender because you liked the HRD, but some of these suggestions are really odd considering that's the only data point we have... Really guys, he likes an HRD so you suggest Mesas, Oranges, Splawns, VHTs?

Budget? - What is practical for you and what is your limit?

Genres? - What style do you play mostly, fav guitarists, do you need cleans, etc?

New or Used? - Lots of great amps out there used, especially in a down economy.

Home or Gig? - Also important. Maybe you do both. Jamming with a drummer can be considered 'gigging' but you won't have a PA etc.

Closest City? - We aren't here to stalk you but we need to know where you are in the world roughly and we can help further if we know what city you are in (ie craigslist, local shops, Guitar Center used section, etc)

Current Gear? - Also good for us to know.

The Mesa's I listed have excellent fender cleans and they have a good OD built into the amp unlike Fender

Out of the great amps mentioned, I'd take a Rockerverb... But you either need to be more specific in your criteria, or just go try some amps to decide. We can't just pick for you arbitrarily based on that little input.

Oh man Seattle is a hot bed for nice used gear. These are just some of the amps I found that I like. Not sure if they are all perfect for what you need. There were some nice Plexis/Plexi clones on there too. You did mention you liked nice Fender cleans like the HRD produced. Guess what - there are lots of amps out there that can do that AND have a great overdriven tone as well.
