So I managed to pick up a mint JCA20 and 212 cab at a great price. I love the amp but I think the speakers could definitely stand to be changed out to really make this thing sing. I'm in the US, Boston area, and will most likely be picking them up through a friend of mine who runs a great shop, but now the question is really what kind of speakers should I get for this thing? I appreciate any input I get, guys.

Eminence V12's work great with them, if you can find an old Eminence super V12 that will work great also

Cool, I'll look into those. How are they on the high end? I've noticed the one thing I'm not loving about this amp is it's a little harsh on the high end and I'd like to tame that a little bit. I'm not sure whether a speaker swap would help more, or changing out the tubes.

The V12 is a nice smooth speaker with out the high end spike.

Soldano uses them in his cabs to pair with his amps and Jet City is just budget Soldano

And they are $75 each

+1 on v12s

celestion vintage 30s or g12h30-type speakers work well too, but I think i like the v12s best. especially since you said you wanted a mellower treble (that's the reason i like mine with my jet city).

i should add i haven't tried your specific amp, i have the 50 watt head.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
