#1
Umi Yukaba ("If I go away to the sea") was #1 (or #2, just after national anthem) song in the Japanese Soldair's Songbook during WWII. In USA it's mostly famous as "Kamikaze Song".

Their words are very ancient, from Man'yōshū, and the music (kinda simple) was provided by Kiyoshi Nobutoki in 1937.

So, I've decided to find it, try to make guitar tabs for it and submit it here. I guess, any punk or metalhead will like this dangerous melody to use for his own songs. THe same way like Bon Jovi had used "Sakura" for his Tokyo Road.

I've tried to find notes and finally found... 2 versions. First looks like this:

I think it sounds pretty close to original tapes. The last line is from second version of the text: instead of "Kaerimi wa seji" - "It will not be a regret", it's "nodo ni wa shinaji" - "I willn't die in peace".

But I can't understand, what does the little sign in the front of notes mean. It has G-clef, it isn't F-clef, but... what is it???

Another version of this song is following:

I've tried to play it on my guitar and even in my Guitar Pro - but it doesn't sound like Umi Yukaba at all. It sounds more like a drunk geisha dusting her shamisen.

I'm just an amateur musitian, so I have to ask - did I do everything right and my umi yukaba worth appear in tabs world?
