I have a chance to buy a JCM 2000 DSL 50 off eBay for £325.

The serial number given is M-2005-35-0385-A

Its been serviced in the last couple of years and the seller says the valves have been replaced with some EHX ones (he doesnt know the exact type, he's selling the amp on behalf of a friend)

The seller states the amp was manufactured in 1995 but from the serial number it appears (to me) to have been manufactured in 2005.

Should i go for it?

JCM2000 were not even made until 97/98 so there is no way it is a 1995

I have the 100 watt head and it is a really nice amp that covers a lot of ground. I'd buy it, I paid $500 for mine and no regrets 1.5 yrs later

Just an update, the seller has realised he made a mistake of manufacture and the amp was indeed manufactured in 2005

Go for it. If you ever think that the tonal imbalance between two channels is bothersome, google up JCM2000 C12 mod. Its easy, all you need is pliers for the barebone version of it.

Gary Moore used DSL100's live. The DSL50 is the same amp with less power tubes. So, they were good enough for Gary .........
That was the amp that restored Marshalls reputation after the JCM900 fiasco.

That's later than the ones with the underrated rectifier. Buy it, man. Great amp.

Only got delivered last night and my 3 month old son was sleeping so could only have a really sneaky go on it, volume turned up to about 2.

Sounds great though, all channels sound really good. Very beefy, tonnes of sustain. Need to do some tweaking tonight but to be honest all the eq sounded really good at just 12noon. Think im gonna have A LOT of fun with it. Cant wait to really get stuck in
