If it's an "Inspired by" John Lennon '65 Casino, then the Elitist is the best. If it's the real John Lennon '65 Casino/Revolution Casino, then that's the better one, but not by a huge margin over the Elitist. There were only 1,965 real JL Casinos ever made, while the "Inspired by" JL Casinos are still in production.

The "Inspired By" and standard Casino are both Chinese numbers with OK materials and passable quality control, pretty much the standard hit or miss of any Epiphone guitar. The Elitists and JL Casinos are/were either built in the US or built in Japan and finished in the US or built and completed in Japan, depending on the model, year of manufacture, and intended market.
Actually, I go by Dave, but there are already too many Daves on this forum.

All the Casinos on the consumer market in guitar shops are chinese made Epiphones, sadly. Almost all Epi's from China tend to be really underwhelming. Can I ask why you're looking specifically at a Casino? What are you looking to play and what is your budget? There are quite a few guys on this board that might have great suggestions for other models to consider.

Want me to take pictures of the "Made In China" stickers of both of the Casinos I have in my shop?

Listen, I didn't just decide one day after I woke up I was going to dislike Epiphone. I used to own a couple, I'm not against the brand. I'm against their current run of Chinese crap, which the current Casino falls into.

My opinions on this aren't without weight. I work in a music store where I have 30+ electric Epiphones on the wall that I play with and perform set ups on every day.

His is made in Japan. He's not playing the same Epiphone you're finding in Guitar Center for $400-$800. Blue Burst doesn't come on a standard Epiphone Casino.

Gary Clark's Epi is probsbly either an older model, an MIJ Elite, or modified.

Edit: looked it up- his Cherry Epi is a MiK, but his two Elitists are MiJs...and about $2500 apiece.

He also has a pair of his sig "Blak & Blu" Epis that have yet to be released to the market.

And, FWIW, Gary's own words regarding the Elitst vs his Red "It feels somewhat sturdier and the pickups are a little cleaner."

I had a feeling you guys would argue he's playing a “better" one, but as danny already stated, the red one is an MiK. But I suppose those are faaar better than the MiC's right?

If you had clicked on the link above your post, you could have seen wildwood sells new Epi Casino, made at the Unsung factory, Korea
the Sunburst one......
they don't make all of them there, but they still produce Epis in Korea

Listen, I really don't care where you work
and to me your opinions don't weight anything....

That's a 2012 Casino. Again, as my previous post said, I have an issue with the current run of Chinese Epiphones.

The MiKs genuinely are.

Right now, there's a bit of an shift in quality in guitar manufacturing. The South Korean factories are really trying to improve QC and using better materials in order to close the gap between what they're producing and what American, Canadian, Japanese and European factories are putting out. The better Korean guitars are shockingly good. See Fernandes, G&L Tributes, Reverends, Electras and so forth.

And coming up behind them are Indonesian factories that are making their own strides forward. Brands like Dean Zelinsky Private Label, Swing and Radix are trying to redefine what it means to make a guitar in that country.
