Hello guys, some stains have appeared over the plate of my amp and they annoy me really much, I don't like my amp looking like this since I paid good money for it and it's like the girl of my eyes, I put a lot of care on it.

Some pics here.

Now, I already contacted Mesa and they insist I should be able to remove them with Windex and it doesn't work. Any thoughts on what can make them dissappear? These stains seem to be caused by my hand's sweat.

I thank you in advance for your help.

Soap and water, if that doesn't work, baking soda and water. If that doesn't work, i wouldn't try anything else, because it'll probably remove any of the lettering on the chassis.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

You could also wipe your control panel with a cloth once in a while or every time you use it, just to prevent.

Yes, I prefer having the stains than erasing the lettering. I'll try with baking soda thank you.

I'm almost sure these ones are from sweat because one of the stains is actually a fingerprint. My sweat kills D'Addario strings in less than 3 weeks cleaning them before and after use with Fast Fret, Ernie Ball strings are gone in 1 week...

Edit: I clean all my amp once a week, I love it...

Those might not be stains. They might be changes in the coloration of the face plate, in which case no amount of cleaning will remove them. A lot of metal parts are not painted; rather, they are given a finish through some other process (i.e., bluing like on firearms). If that is the case, then the finish can actually change color for a number of reasons. It is not dirty; it is changed. If that is the case, then short of refinishing the metal, you just have to live with them.

Think of them as battle scars. Chicks dig battle scars.

Make sure you try the baking soda on a part of the chassis that won't be seen from the outside to make sure it doesn't discolor. It SHOULDN'T, as I use it to clean chrome on all my drums... but you can never be too cautious

Yep. It's either blued or powder coated which means the discoloration most likely won't go away. Bright side- you're lucky it's not gold.

Also, TS, I have sweat issues too and it's a pain in the ass.

Yeah, it's a damn shame. Hopefully the baking soda works. Let us know the results!

Don't you mean it should be gold? If it was solid gold it'd be worth a ton.

I'd recommend keeping a towel on your amp if you sweat that bad man.
