Hi there

I'm searching for a effect pedal that can get me some kind of background sound for my guitar. I can't realy explain it but you hear it a lot in metal music. I'll give you some examples:

I hope you know what i mean and can help me with such effect pedal!

That's just a distorted guitar with all of the bass and some highs cut, while the mids are high as ****.
Some MXR/JOYO eq with 5 or so minutes of experimenting with your other gear will do just fine.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

That kind of effect (faded sound) followed by the real "full" sound, is mostly done in the studio with filters. So I doubt you'll be able to switch from that sound to "full" sound back and forth with a pedal.

^ I don't see why not.

That filter is for the most part an eq, so say he sets a drastic mid boost and low cut and moderate high cut on the eq - for that intro he turns down the volume a bit and he plays with the neck pickup with the eq engaged, and then he raises the volume on the guitar, he switches back to the bridge pickup and he disengages the eq.

I think if you had an m9 with an expression pedal you could se the exp to control an eq in a filter like fashion and it's be pretty convincing.

Yeah, that's like a radio filter. Not common on a standalone effect, but an MXR 10 Band should be able to do it.

My band jokes about this sound all the time, it's kind of disgustingly cliche IMO.
