Revel with me, brothers. Show me what new bands bring back that glint in your eye. Demos that make your heart soar. Music that reminds you why metal is so great in the first place.

Show me what new bands you're looking forward to; the demos that have given you hope.

To start us off:

Aktor - I Am the Psychic Wars

A Chris Black project. This is relaxing, old school heavy metal with a nice psychedelic vibe. This is straight from 1981. The closest comparison I can give is Saracen's Heroes, Saints, and Fools. Really, really, enjoyable music.

Arnaut Pavle - S/T

Riff heavy, enjoyable black metal with a suffocating amount of Darkthrone influence.

Stone Dagger - The Siege of Jerusalem

Oh man. I can't get enough of their 10 minute demo. I already made a thread dedicated to them, so I won't write up anything lengthy. These guys are the real deal. Epic. Fukking. Metal. Watch out for them.

Eternal Champion - The Last King of Pictdom

Holding the Epic Metal flag high and proud. These guys wear their influences on their sleeves. Strong metal in all regards, their 2 song demo brought me great joy and excitement. Eternal Champion have potential.

Graven Rite - The Summoner's Pit

Carrying the same banner as Eternal Champion, these guys came to fight. Powerful, mesmerizing power/epic metal with charm. Good things to come in the future.

Infiltrator - Crush the False

Pure fukking speed metal and nothing else. These guys aren't even on the archives. I have no clue how my buddy managed to find them, but I'm very glad he showed these fukks to me. Poseur slaying metal at its finest. False beware.

Speectro - Guerra de Metal

Agent Steel worship. These guys pray at the altar of the masters of metal. The Skeptics influence is suffocating. Another band that's not even on the archives. Obscure and difficult to find, but it seems like they like it that way. The label is young and amateur, so material from them is very hard to get a hold of.

Not really sure where to start. I listen to a lot of new bands, so I'll just post some random acts.

Hypertension
Vomiting gutterals in the style of early Obituary crossed with killer death/thrash. Oddly nice melodies over top of catchy riffs.

Kommandant
Black/death metal who can most adequately be described as "festering hatred bubbling on the surface with blackened sores." Neat little band. Not much in the way of releases but definitely a solid act. Can get cheesy though, even for gas mask metal.

Ghost Kommando
Few check out my threads, but when they do they'll often find me fawning over new releases. Already described them before as if Nosferatu himself took the helm of a heavy metal band.

Rhinocervs
I didn't know which demo to pick because there are quite a few but this band can be described as an ambient black metal band, but what they create is an engulfing atmosphere relying on the claustrophobic sounds and riffs.

As long as BLS and Down are still doing it, then all is well in my eyes. The singer from Shadows Fall has new project he's working on too called Downpour. It's groove metal in the vain of Pantera, but not in a way that makes them sound like they are trying to be Pantera. There's a preview of one of the tracks on youtube, but I can't be bothered to retrieve it

I've listened to Ride with Death before. I wouldn't say it's my favourite, but it's certainly pretty rad. Reminds me another new band:

With a bit more focus on hardcore rather than those big balls vocals that are present on Ride with Death.

They stole artwork from Meatloaf and sound like a bad Converge ripoff.

Not posting the Downpour preview is doing us a favor. On a side note, Downpour's bassist is in Birch Hill Dam, who are a much, much better band.

As for actual good stuff...

Elder

Tribulation

House of Atreus

Crypt Lurker

Hessian

Lie in Ruins

Titanis

Metal won't die, there's too many huge metal fans out there that make music for other huge metal fans.

I just always seem to like the new metal releases that the rest of the forum is lukewarm about at best haha. Like I was hugely psyched for the Sulphur Aeon debut and no one else was fussed.

Arnaut Pavle has the best punk sensibilities to their songs. Damn that tape is a fukking savage animal! Plus they rarely break the 3 minute mark which is something way too many Metal projects shouldn't do but choose to drag their sorry asses for far too long.

Downpour

I am waiting very uneasily for this, mostly because I just don't want to wait . I am anticipating them to be a very good band.

I also agree with you on BLS and Down. Last remnants of 90's metal.
