I know shame on me, but now when turning the volume knob it makes a bunch of scratchy noise. Is this something that can be fixed with elementary soldering skills? Pickups are actives if it matters
Sounds like you've broken the pot. It will need to be replaced.

If the pickups are EMGs they might have special quick disconnect pots that would not require any soldering. However they also cost a helluva lot more and you might just buy a cheaper pot with the some resistance that does require soldering. The pot might also just have some dirt in it which can be remedied by spraying contact cleaner into it and running the wipers back and forth a couple times.
