this is a trace elliot speed twin. 50w 1/12" really nice cleans, dirt a little iffy. got to get it dialed in right and at that volume. it seems to me that you turn it up things sound more different than the average amp.

anyways. i need a footswitch. i need to build one.

there are two jacks, i am assuming TRS plugs

first jack,

"channel i/ii"
MASTER "i/ii"

second jack

preamp style m/h (just another gain stage)
effects on/off

i don't have anything to determine which jacks i need to go where and where could i get a housing for the switch.

help!!!

Not sure about how to interpret schematics, but if anybody's capable of doing so, the switching stuff is at page 3.
I think small bear electronics carries all sorts of enclosures, so have a look at that.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

youll probably get more responses if you move this to the GB&C forum. I dont know much about footswitches, but there are people over there that know plenty.

+1 thats my main problem. if i knew what went where it would be simple (thanks for the link) but they don't show any diagram indicating anything.

how do you get a thread moved?

Don't you have another TRS style handy to plug in? Verify the features work and then copy it.

TRS are two switches per jack. Enclosure is up to you. You make each pair of two separate or in the same housing.

See, it's important that people clarify when they say "metal", because I pretty much always assume they are a Cannibal Corpse fanboi.

i was thinking like seeing what a single TRS plug could do, i realize that you can run a switch, but what would engage the switch, i don't really understand? i have a dozen good cables or so and probably 10 cables that failed that i cut the jacks off and run other things with.

also what is the best way to pyhsically connect two cables and look nice. i have quite a bit of the black flexy tube shield with that only and could probaby do that?

i need a larger pan for the switches, i need a little space in between and i have big feet that are so cliumsy some times.

this is a primary gigging amp at the minute, i have a nice clean and a decent crunch, nothing to worry about and its a 1x12" and has enough to keep up with coffee shops or small bars.

Is there also a DIN jack? Because the schematic posted shows that there's a DIN jack and a pass through for the footswitch.

EDIT: Oh, posted schem is for MKII, while you've got the MKI. Just need two TRS to a single DIN5 connector preferably, though two separate TRS to TRS is fine. Dunno which switch goes to which function, but that's easy enough to find out yourself. Sleeve is common to each pair of switches, and ring/tip will go to their respective switches. Momentary switches, I think, though they may be latching. The MKII schem uses momentary.

i do not really know much, if anything about din cables, i will research later on those.

sorry i do not know about a lot of this but how do i know if i trip one of the switches? so i can figure out what does what. how would i be able to see if they were momentary or latching?

Do you have a good site to go for for parts? i have bought from some, just haven't found a good one yet. also what is the name of the switch i need?

Mammoth is fine. Just get an SPST momentary. If you can post guts, of the switching circuit in particular, I should be able to tell you. Otherwise, you'll have to do trial and error without a schem.

This should work as an enclosure.

http://www.mammothelectronics.com/4S1032L-p/500-1006.htm

Then you'll need four of these if momentary, http://www.mammothelectronics.com/KFSSPST-MB-SPST-Momentary-Soft-Touch-Switch-with-p/800-1003b.htm

Or you can use four of these if latching. Just wire to the inner and one of the outer lugs. http://www.mammothelectronics.com/4SFSSPDT-LS-p/800-1010.htm

And then I don't think Mammoth has DIN connectors, so you'll have to go Mouser, Small Bear or Best-Tronics. Or Radio Shack probably has everything. Their switches/enclosures are usually crap though.

i will just go for trial error, but what do i do to get one switch to activate? tough between the wire and ground? (that is just guessing)

thanks moltar.

Connect tip to sleeve and ring to sleeve. Sleeve is ground in this case.
