I've been wanting to try building a head for a while now and if I had my druthers I'd build a massive sounding Green Matamp clone but seeing how it's my first crack and I don't trust myself I figured I'd try something solid state first and have gotten some schematics for a Sunn Beta Lead.

My main question is will it truly be easier to build a solid state amp vs a tube amp?

Any other advice off the top of your heads would be appreciated as well. I'm still in the research phase.
With SS amps you don't have to worry about sourcing stuff like tube sockets, output transformers, and high-voltage power transformers and don't have to worry about tooling the chassis for tube sockets. But you do have to worry about proper heatsinking of the output devices.
