Sooo I tuned my Martin DCPA5K down to Open A to learn some Replacements songs and found that the tuning sounds absolute shiiiiite on the guitar. It seems too loose on the strings. And yes before you say it I was using E A E A C# E.

I am saddened that the guitar can't play it, is there a way to fix it?

I don't understand how it could be too loose, its really tight on my Fender CD-60CE. If anything, let the guitar sit with it tuned to open A for an hour or so and try tuning it again, so the strings will have stretched. Otherwise off the top of my head the only thing you can do is get some custom work done to the bridge, pegs or neck. Hope I helped a little.

Usually the solution is heavier strings. What gauge set is on it now?

Besides, the tuning you have outlined is actually higher than E-E standard.

If you're tuned down an entire octave, nothing's going to work.

Ah thats the problem. Whenever I looked at some guidance it told me to tune down.

I think i'll forget it then, i'm too poor to risk tuning above standard!
