discuss metal

On the come up we were listening to Grateful Dead and the music started passing through my bowel and out my arsehole as this violet stream of light. I shat music. It was beautiful.

Anyone else think Iron is overrated? Aluminum is way better imo

Steel is cool too.

The best metal by far is steel. So strong and so light

Steel isn't a metal you ****ing monkeys, it's an alloy of iron. Does anyone else hate when people don't know the proper classification ?

I can't believe how close-minded you all are. There's more to life than metal - plastic, for example is often a good alternative.
I have nothing important to say

Steel is made from carbon and Iron. Don't be so pedantic.

Steel isn't even a metal. So much false metal in this thread.

Ya I hate what happened to the element scene

I got a metal for winning a tournament this weekend, it made me feel proud

SGT. HARTMAN: Where in hell are you from anyway, Private?
COWBOY: Sir, Texas, sir!
SGT. HARTMAN: Holy dogshit! Texas! Only steers and queers come from Texas, Private Cowboy! And you don't look much like a steer to me, so that kinda narrows it down!! Do you suck dicks!?
COWBOY: Sir, no, sir!
SGT. HARTMAN: Are you a peter-puffer!?
COWBOY: Sir, no, sir!
SGT. HARTMAN: I'll bet you're the kind of guy that would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddamn common courtesy to give him a reach-around! I'll be watching you!!

Today's plastic is just so throwaway and overproduced though.
Yesterdays was better, my childhood was plastic

Whatever competition you were in, it must have really tested your metal.

Metal is out, carbon fiber is in! Don't they have something like carbon fib-anium or something now where they weave in titanium for added strength? Clearly I have no idea what I'm talking about. Very post metal stuff.

My sphincter probably has some iron in it, zinc as well. Totally not a metal.
Well, I really hope your sphincter isn't over 97.94% iron though.

It's probably fine to call metallic alloys metals. It's not like you typically find pure metals anyway.

Bunch of try-hard posers, right?
The plan was to drink until the pain over.
But what's worse, the pain or the hangover?
Who am I? I'm a titan so be expectin' a clash.

Yeah. Ultimate tensile strength of 3 MPa, compared to 290 MPa of Aluminium. Pffff.

edit: My vote goes to osmium, because it's blue-ish
Not sure if a sig is a necessity.

What?
Does the value surprise you or SI units?
edit: value 3 MPa is for monocrystal iron, for poly (small grain) it's around 180 MPa.

Yeah, it was the value. Most carbon steels rank in the 200-300ish MPa range, iirc.

wiki says both yield and ultimate tensile go over 2 GPa for some steels. Then again, at some sources I didn't see it go over 800 MPa.
Iunno why the first reference would be wrong, though.
