I've been hearing a lot about the new Hendrix biopic, but I feel like it could either be really good or flop. But are there any musician biopics out there that are actually good?
Also... no Hendrix songs in his own biopic?? What's up with that??

"Walk Hard:The Dewey Cox Story"

While a comedy spoof, if you watch it, you will have seen just about ever musician biopic ever.

Secondly, the most likely reason the don't have any Hendrix music in the biopic is that they can't afford it. (Low budget movie, no money for song rights.)

Ray (biopic about the life of Ray Charles) was a really good one. Jamie Foxx actually put in an incredible performance and won an oscar for it!

Mozart isn't music. I'm glad SOMEBODY agrees with me!

Sid And Nancy was pretty good, plus it's got Gary Oldman.

It was a good movie as a work of fiction. It has been panned as total bullshit by everyone who actually knew them or was involved.

Alex Cox used Joe Strummer as his primary source of information.

Your doing a film about Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols, etc so naturally Joe Strummer would be the best source of information?

Just want to note that Amadeus is almost completely fiction.

I know a Mozart scholar of sorts and while he does quickly point to some of the fictions he still sees some value in the movie.

Yeah, i've heard that, but it's still a good movie, apparently Gary Oldman was the only thing John Lydon liked about it.

Yeah, but then, how can you not like Gary Oldman?

Chloe Webb got (unfairly) criticized for her annoying voice in that movie. To everyone whoever said that I always asked "Have you ever heard Nancy Spungen's voice?" She had it down perfect.. (which was annoying, but accurate.)

Ali, with Will Smith is an entertaining watch.

Yes. Muhammad Ali played the ropes. It counts.
