If I practice songs with a lot of slides in them for very long, I develop grooves in the callouses on the tips of my fretting fingers. These grooves will often catch on strings as I move up or down. They also make my trilling sound pretty horrible.

I've tried using a nail file to sand them down, but the grooves are too deep. I'd need to file into some soft skin (and bleed) to get rid of them.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
