A cheap solid state amplifier, gain turned up and mids rolled of.

Honestly, I think the guy's tone is terrible. I assume you are looking for a way to get a good "metal" sound on a budget?

Yup. That's exactly it.

And I know why I can't do it now. I have a Storm 15 practice amp at the moment, which has no gain control. Thanks for your help!

Turns out there's a little button on the otherside labeled "override", which works just as well. The guy I bought it off of didn't show that to me!

hahaha. I have a storm 15 xD. I don't use it, but I do have one in my shed. Served me well many years ago. Your next investment towards your musicianship should be a new amp. then you'll be able to get closer and closer to the sounds you really want.

But in the meantime, just enjoy the playing brother. \m/
