Which is the longest and possibly, silliest sounding sub-genre of metal that you have come across till now?

I mean eg. Neo Post Progressive Melodic Metalcore

But obviously, not made up like this one..

No, I judge people based on how similar they are to me.
The greater the similarity, the more of a total ****ing **** they are.

Even if that was real, it wouldn't really be a subgenre name. Also this is one of those times when hyperbole really does not work.

No such things as long genres - just people being overzealous and adding descriptors. Your example would be metalcore. The only instance I've seen neo used has been with neoclassical, progressive rock is its own thing (as is post rock) and grouping the two together is counter intuitive. Melodic, of course, is a redundant descriptor.

Okay. I guess the longest one I've actually heard was just Technical Progressive Brutal Death Metal and wanted to see how far people were willing to go with this thing.

Technical Progressive Brutal Death Metal
Utterly redundant

I... I should return to Arkham.

Two words usually satisfies the urge. "x" metal. It's simple and it works.

Although, there's Depressive Suicidal Black Metal which is just like saying "it's sad, but also more sad."

Yeah, this.

The only instance I've seen neo used has been with neoclassical

There's also neofolk, neo-noir (a film classification), and just plain Neo (aka Keanu Reeves).

Melodic, of course, is a redundant descriptor.

Not necessarily so. If a genre is typically rhythmically centered or beat based, then the inclusion of melodically driven passages, songs, etc. could alter the underlying structure, thus giving meaning and weight to the term in this context. ...but I think you were addressing his post specifically.

Don't forget Ne Obliviscaris.

I guess Ne Obliviscaris are Extreme Progressive Gypsy Folk Metal of some description.....

"Neo" means new. So, "new classical", "new folk", etc. Unless you're Keanu Reeves, in which case, it means you're the "ONE".

Side-note:
Post is often applied to a lot of different genres. Example: Post-Metal (think Neurosis after "Times of Grace" or Isis) has definitive metal influences, but it also brings in a lot of the philosophy of Post-Rock. Post-Grunge is bands like Three Doors Down, definite Grunge influence but not Grunge. And so on...

Not metal but friend of mine wouldn't let me call his band a pop band. He insisted it was indie post-punk alternative rock.

I also laughed really hard at this:

Although, there's Depressive Suicidal Black Metal which is just like saying "it's sad, but also more sad."
