Just picked up a stock 5150 combo and
am wondering what a good pair matching

For hard rock and metal, I'm really digging the Celestion G12K100 right now. If you want to fill out the high mids a little more, mix a V30 with it.

Really looking for massive low end plus the ability
to cut through the mix with little mud. Wanting a
modern tone with this amp.

look at these, great with the 5150 www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/warehouse-guitar-speakers-veteran-30-12-60w-british-invasion-guitar-speaker

This will show you what they sound like (I like the WGS better than the V30) www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMYnuC2kUjQ

That's a good video. I'm still new to speaker differences/replacement so, this was pretty helpful. Thanks, gnarlz.

Another vote for the K100/V30 combo. The K100s give you a the low mids for oomph, the V30 handles cut

The V30/k100 is a good combo for modern metal and so is the V30/G12t75.
V30/G12h30 is also a good combo with the right amps (LOG used this combo)

Just the V30 type speakers alone is great for modern metal with the 5150 amps. I'd look at WGS though, they are really good values

For an Eminence alternative, consider a Swamp Thang and Governor combo. The Gov is modeled after the V30, but is less harsh in my opinion. It still provides a nice ripping midrange to cut through. The Swamp Thang is I think an alternative to the Celestion G12-k100, but is a bit different. It is LOUD and has a very thick, chunky chug to it on palm mutes -- but never gets muddy and actually has plenty of cut on its own.

I run them crossed in a 412 cab with my 6505+ and it sounds amazing.
