I recently got a brand new bass, but one of the tuning pegs seems to be mucked up
Every time it reaches a certain point, it clicks back and won't turn any further, making it impossible to string.

Any ideas of how I can fix this?
I have nothing important to say

Did you buy it brand new from a store, or is it new to you?
If you're going to replace it, I recommend a hipshot bass key. I have one on one of mine, and it's so nice to drop a whole step with a flick of the lever.

If it's new from a store, you need to go back and see what they can do.

Balls. May not be worth it after all the shipping back and forth.
I stand by my suggestion. If you are going to replace it, think about something like this.
Once you get it set up properly, they are awesome.

They have lots of styles. One probably matches your current keys.

I fully agree with Ryan, I had a new bass, and straight up dropped the bugger one day. The entire E tuning key snapped completely off. I had been wanting a Hipshot for a while, but the incident definitely expedited the process of me getting one. They're extremely useful and hold tune better than stock machines. 9/10 definitely.

If it was bad from day one, the retailer should be paying the shipping and replace it ASAP.
