I've typed this up in Bands & Artists but they didn't reply and this seems to be the only active threads so..

So I've been a metalhead for a while now (4-5 years) and I have a bit of a problem...

I've never been fully immersed into many genres. Even in metal I only get pushed to certain songs by certain bands, to this day I've never heard a full AC/DC album, Iron Maiden album, or Metallica album. I was lucky enough to get my hands on albums from Brocas Helm, A7X, and Naitomea but not much else. Hopefully my current list of albums show my diversity (meaning please don't get all elitist )

With that in mind, could anyone point to what albums define a genre (subjectively of course).

I want to find out about Jazz, Classical (Baroque and Victorian stuff), Metal (any subgenre), Modern Rock, Blues, Classic Rock, and Hardcore

So far I own:

"Angels Fall First" by Nightwish
"City of Evil" by A7X
"Autotheism" by The Faceless
"Defender of the Crown" by Brocas Helm
"Deepest Purple" by Deep Purple (greatest hits album)
"The World Ruler" by Naitomea
Punk and Hardcore
"The Severing" by Crydebris
"Revolutions Per Minute" by Rise Against
"Cow Fingers and Mosquito Pie" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Theory is just...wow. I'm getting a bit over my head by trying to learn so much w/o formal educators

To be a good lead guitar you must be VERY GOOD AT RYTHM
