...And it's about darn time.

We have the Les Paul thread, an SG thread, an ERG thread, a PRS thread, a Tele thread and Strat thread. And no thread dedicated to the appreciation of V's and Explorers in recent memory? Bollocks.

I pushed my Flying V into the vagina of a drunken slag too far for me to tolerate this tomfoolery. So with Colin's permission, this thread will bear the sweet fruit of many a picture of sexy Explorer and V guitars from the EG fellowship.

Rule no.1:

Rule No.2:

All Flying V and Explorer-style guitars and variants are allowed. Including Gibson, Jackson, ESP, LTD, Ibanez, BC Rich, Schecter, etc.

Pics of your own Flying V and Explorer projects are welcome and very encouraged!

etc etc...

etc etc...

So, with that out of the way, I'll post mine in a separate post because of the number of images in this one.

QUESTION: What Explorer or V-style guitar would you like get in the future? What specs would it have?

And well yes, I'll enjoy the carpal tunnel and tendonitis, because trying to get one is clearly smarter than any word you have spoken thus far.

Gibson V '68

Dream guitar since I was a kid. I'm never selling this guitar.

Epiphone Futura Prophecy EX. This was the first decent guitar I ever bought, although I'm thinking about selling it. It's recently had a fret level and dress so it plays pretty awesome. 18v modded of course.

Excuse the bedsheets, i needed colour contrast

I have no idea how much the guitars are worth.

I like Vs, but I don't find them comfortable to play, so I will probably will never own one. Still, were I to buy one, I'd probably buy a Reverend Volcano (specifically the RA) or one of the US Masters guitars.

Fair enough.

I do find them very comfortable though. The classical position is something I've become very comfortable with over time.

the 600 series usually means it's a sig guitar made in Korea, but I've never heard of an artist that uses it.

EDIT: it turns out to be a Michael Amott sig guitar.

Anybody in here ever see a Nova pointy guitar? They had a headstock similar to a Gibson's, but the V shape was so compressed, it was almost like a Steinberger. I used to see ads for them all the time in the backs of magazines. I almost bought one, but they stopped running the ads.

just had gas to try something else. i've been on a LP kick but i'm overstocked at present, so when i clear a couple tokais out i'll grab another mij korina bacchus.

they did a run in their philippines branch made from mango trees, which look really cool for a $500-600 guitar.

http://www.deviser-bacchus.com/products/global-series-guitar/bfv-mg/

mango explorers too.

^ aww hell yeah.

toodeep - the grain looks incredible on the mangos and they always look better in person. if they were mij i'd probably have taken the leap. the two bacchus mij guitars i've owned have both been ridiculous. i'd honestly put them at PRS USA levels of qc/woods/workmanship. i paid $850 for that V, it was 1 of a limited run of 10.

I wonder what Mango sounds like as a tonewood.

Someone needs to make an an acoustic out of Mango to see how it stacks up.

the translations are always great from japanese to english, but here's what their site states.

Compatibility of the instrument and mango trees

Tend to come out strong High Mid guitar mahogany body, this represents the features of this guitar in a good way, but the impression that this band is suppressed a little, low frequencies come out firmly somewhat in place in the case of mango . I tend to easy to control high is not too out.

more low mids then? maybe good for drop tunings.
#25
That actually sounds pretty usable for all sorts of guitars. So it's darker than mahogany in terms of the lower mids being louder?
