Hello guys,

This is first post on UG. I am planning to buy my first 7 string guitar, and i am bit worried about which one to pick.

I am from India and it's sad that we don't have a lot of options for 7 string. my budget is around INR 30k (Around $400)

I would definitely change the pickups, so i wanted a guitar with the best sounding body and perfect scale-length.

If you like your Ibanez RG350, you could take a look at RG7321 or RG7421, they are usual recommendation if you want a nice, not expensive first sevenstring guitar.

Scale length and best sounding body are both personal preference thigns.

I love my MKH Les Paul Custom 7, all mahogany, 24.75" scale length.

RG7421/321 are both good options.

The Jackson JS22-7 and JS32-7 are also good starter options within your price range I believe.
Main Rig:

Epiphone MKH Les Paul Custom 7 - Ronda
Ibanez RG8 "Scarlet" - AKA The Rambanez
Fender Strat "Danielle"/"Dani"

Jackson make some good low end 7's if you're not sure on the whole 7 /8 string thing

But RG7321 makes sense here.
Bass Gear:

Mensinger: Speesy
Fender Precision 1989 (CIJ Rosewood)
Fender Steve Harris (CIJ)
Lakland J Sonic 5
Epiphone Explorer
Maruszczyk (custom) Jake

I too recommend the RG7321. Mine serves me well. If you pick it up used you'll have some cash leftover for pickups and new it will be about $400, but a decent set of pups runs you like $160 anyway so you could save.

Side note, I love Indian metal right now. Skyharbor and Amogh Symphony are the shit.

7321 with pickup swap is pretty much the standard for people starting 7 strings. Threw a crunchlab/liquifire set in mine and the guitar plays solid. just get it setup right, put a good nut, and eventually change the bridge because mine just started to take a crap and the saddles are stripped from the inside but its an easy fix.

The only real answer to the SG vs Les Paul debate is to get a Flying V and laugh at all the suckers who don't have one.

if you embrace inaccurate intonation it can be quite arousing.

RG8 is eight string guitar. Do you want that or a seven string?

RGD7421 is surely better than GRG7221.

Agreeing with the RGD7421. The RG8 is an 8 string and isn't as good quality. Plus the long scale length and extra 2 strings might be hard to adjust to coming off a regular 6 string.
