Should of bought a 2i4 for this kind of stuff. Due to the sensitivity of Focusrite's pre's they run VERY hot and so if you're DI-ing you really need a pad with them, which is why we recommend the 2i4 over the 2i2 in the recording forum, but that's not really going to help you now sadly.

Basic solution, turn your guitar down with it's volume control.

Sorry if I'm not understanding, but have you tried lowering the gain on your input? Could be as simple as that...
