I personally wouldn't. I'd keep saving up until I get what I really want.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Maybe a old mij guitar like a vantage. Nothing new in that price range really appeals to me.

There ya go.

Something MIJ, vintage to the late 70s or 80s. Tokai, Fernandes and Greco would be my first ports of call, or maybe Squier MIJ. It's really more about getting specs you can't find in modern guitars. Not to mention the tone and build quality.

Hookers and blow.

That should have been the name for a spinoff of TJ Hooker, as in:

"He's a raw recruit and the son of a legend on the force. She's the wiley vet tasked with hammering him into shape. They patrol the streets, and together, they are Hooker & Blow! Saturday nights at 8PM on CBS!"

It would have to have one of those sound tracks with the phunkadelic whacka whacka wah pedal guitars and the horn section doing staccato riffs with shots of them running across the tops of cars and standing back to back with their pistols drawn...
