Im noticing some minor static occasionally with strumming on clean channels. Its fairly faint but I am not sure what the cause could be. Is that normally the sign of a bad cable?

what brand/model of amp do you have?

likely its probably a jack problem. i would pick up some deoxit (contact cleaner) and spray a little bit on the (NOT IN THE AMP) on the terminal of the cable, and work it a little bit into by plug in and out.

test it with a different
1. cable
2. guitar
3 different room
4 in a room with all other electricity off and not near a microwave or TV and see if it happens.

it could also be the jack onthe guitar, so pull it out and look at the solder joints.

have you done anything different since before and after.

and lastly if your amp is a tube amp, there could be a mildly microphonic tube buy one. generally a JJ 12ax7 preamp tube, and try it in different locations and see if it goes away. if it does, you have a bad tube.

Could be a bad cable. Does your guitar have EMGs? Your battery could be low and need replacing. That happened to me once. Your input jack on either your guitar or amp could possibly have lousy wiring. Is your amp solid state? You may be strumming hard and causing the amp to break up and the distortion isnt pleasing to you. Thats all I got :/

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.
