Hey fellas,

I got an OJ Micro Terror w/ the companion PPC-108 cab, and I was curious which OD would sound best with it? Your opinion of course. I'm a metal-head who enjoys old Thrash-playing but nu-metal sound (if that makes sense... ) I enjoy a really crushing tone, simply put.

I've checked out my fair-share of OD's and it seems Maxon OD 808 seems to be the way to go, and I will get that, but if I can I'd like to save some money on something cheaper, but about as good. I've been looking at the OCD as well.... any other options? Thanks!

Also, if there is already a thread for this, feel free to link.

Hm, I'll have to check them out. Kind'a gear newbie here! Thanks, however!

The OD 808 is tried and true, can't go wrong with that. A much cheaper option is a Joyo Vintage OD. They basically tried to clone it. They are very close in sound, just cheaper construction etc.

Certainly seems similar.... Lol same color and everything (minus knobs, of course.) I'll investigate, appreciate it!

Green Rhino is always the answer. I use it as a solo boost, and trust me, it works wonders.

For sure. It's a really popular OD on sevenstring.org, which might as well be a metal forum...

A few of us here have come across some really dodgey Joyos. I wouldn't recommend one unless you are capable of doing repairs. I had a flanger where a trimpot wasn't even pushed through the holes on the board and others have found equally as ****ed up things. They are built by dyslexic monkeys on meth. Cheap though, so if you have some technical skills its a viable option. They are cheaper than the cost of parts.
The Bad Monkey isn't bad but its buffer leaves something to be desired. The Green Rhino seems to be pretty good. Out of the three I'd choose the Rhino - and it's the most expensive. Surprise sur-****ing-prise.

The CMATmods Signa Drive is definitely one of the best TS-based pedals out there.

It's very versatile because it has 3 modes of operation: the standard TubeScreamer mode, a low gain, high headroom mode great for solos and boosting tube amps, and a higher gain, more compressed mode.

I saw in a couple of pictures that on Bucketheads Les Paul (only some pictures) that his neck pickup is painted in white. Can anyone explain to me why he would do this, and if there are any pros and cons.

The guy wears a KFC Bucket and a white mask during performances, and you're interested in the color of his pickup covers?

Hardwire CM-2. Basically a Bad Monkey but built better and with better components.

MXR M77.

The GFS Greenie is cool, but as Cath mentioned, the buffer probably isn't great. But I don't know a lot about this pedal.

As far as OD pedals I love my new Boss OD1X. Its not cheap but it sounds fantastic. True bypass is not necessarily better and sometimes it ends up being worse. There are some neat youtube videos on the subject.

Thanks for the wisdom cath. After many much research I ended up w/ the Green Rhino. It's in the mail now.

Of course I've seen this video. However, I am not Ola, and metal does not flow through my fingertips like his does.

have a CMAT. GREAT pedal. but being the tweaker i am, i may have the urge to try something else. but its a great pedal. no reason to switch other than i feel like a new vibe. probably the best 135 dollar screamer clone made.
