Does anyone know any songs written and performed about locations?

I assume there is a lot of them.

I'm starting to update my map that links to the associated songs/videos through markers.

Please share your song and/or YouTube link that you feel best represents the music.

Thanks,
Robert

If anyone wants to see the map, it is here .

I'm pretty sure that something by R. H. C. P is about California.

If you want something specific, Venice Queen.

London's Calling - The Clash
Detroit Rock City - KISS
California Dreaming - Mamas and Papas
Tupelo - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Are you going to San Fransisco - Scott Fitzgerald

Just a few of the off the top of my head.

EDIT: Meant to put Calling instead of Burning.

No problem

You could say that Black Hills and Shore Serenity by Pain of Salvation take place in Black Hills in America and Lake Karachay in Russia..

^Not the biggest clash fan, I meant Calling. London's Burning is a nursery rhyme to me.

Jean Sibelius's Finlandia and Tapiola

There was this guy... Sinatra I think... he had that song about that one city... oh wait, it was New York.
#29
I guess maybe 212 by Azealia Banks (212 is the area code for Manhattan, I think)

and of course Gangnam Style - Psy (Gangnam being the rich part of Seoul)

EDIT: I don't know if it's just guitar music you're after (if so sorry for these suggestions), but Yonkers by Tyler, The Creator was a pretty big song too (Yonkers being in NY)

EDIT 2: Munich by Editors (tbh apart from the title it doesn't really mention Munich, but hey)

About half of all bluegrass songs are about mountains or creeks:

Though most of them are somewhat unknown as to which mountain or creek them actually reference, though they all do reference a specific place.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

There's about 400 songs with California in their name.

Quote by sickman411
And they're all by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Hey, at least they wrote a song about Michigan to round it out a bit.

They also wrote this song, which is not only about a place, but about the place.

All jokes aside, the only other one I can think of is Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z. And I seriously doubt that's the only song he has that's about NYC. I could probably think of a lot more if I had my music collection in front of me.

Edit: Oh, and Holiday In Cambodia.

Speaking of which, there's also New York State of Mind by Billy Joel.

Neil Young - Alabama
Joe Dassin - Champs Elysées (French, though the original is English and there's a Slovene version as well, all describing a different location)

I can only think of these from the top of my head. All of them are great imho.
