Been binge-watching South Park these past few days, and this question popped into my head.

For me, it's a tossup between Cartman and Butters. Cartman always makes me laugh my ass off because he's such a dick, while I also really like Butters, because he's Butters and he's awesome.

Who's yours? Since there are so many characters, I'll just add an "Other" option so you can post whoever.

Seriously, how do people find Mr. Hanky and Towlie jokes funny outside of middle school

You lost me at "Lubricate."

I do, however, like my local mall titled "South Park Mall".

I don't think either of those characters have been on the show since I was in middle school tbh

I have to vote Stan. He's the one character (besides Kyle, but he's a Jew, so...) that typically acts and reacts like an actual person and calls the rest of his universe out on how ridiculous it is. Just makes the show mesh better than I feel like it would otherwise. This choice is closely followed by Randy. I would watch an all Randy show.

Also, entering a thread about something you don't like just to say you don't like it is an absurd and baffling amount of lame.

Everyone knows its Butters!

And I love south park. It's probably my favorite show of all time.

I do too, It has a mini golf course. Always wanted to clock someone with a golf ball and pretend it was a accident.

The only people I know who DON'T find South Park funny are rather shallow and generally have a short attention span and unwillingness to open their minds beyond their preconceptions. Their idea of South Park is Mr. Hankey and Towelie as can be seen above. The show has evolved very well over the years and the writing has only improved (though there have been a couple recent duds for me personally).

I believe you'd be challenged to find another show as varied in its approach to humor as South Park's legacy, though some of it may not be as obvious. It's awesome how experimental they've remained despite the success of the show - of course there's stupid fart humor throughout - but beyond that Matt and Trey have littered the series with some of the best satire of the times. They maintain an excellent balance between cheap laughs and excellent satire, constantly probing for that sweet feeling where we can all just sit back and laugh at ourselves for how selfish, stupid, pretentious, and vain we are as a society. I love this ****ing show. Personally, there's not much I won't laugh about nowadays, though perhaps from a slightly cynical point of view, I largely contribute this to South Park.

My favorite character varies, so many great lines delivered by so many different characters.

Stan
Randy
Gerald
Ike
Cartman
Butters
Terrance & Philip
Mr. Garrison
Mr. Slave
Satan
Jesus
Officer Barbrady
Jimmie

All depends on the episode.

Butters. Kyle gets picked on, but butters gets tortured, and that's pretty metal.
#30
I'm surprised how popular Randy is. I mean he's one of my favorite characters but I thought that wasn't the case for most people.
#32
I havent seen the show in a while but im gonna say barbrady, he just cracks me up so much

Like when they crucify cartman and barbrady drives past, stops because he hears shouting and just says "hmmmm T for turtle" then he drives off
You hit 'em and they get back up
I hit 'em and they stay down

^Oh snap, Barbrady was really good too. He was like the ultimate Police Chief Wiggum.

Cartman, because I watched SP before Randy and Butters became a fan favourite. Though they are both really good, they can never live up to the ultimate fatass that cartman was.

yeah but cartman is almost unfair because they just give him so much prominence in almost every episode. per capita, i feel like randy is funnier. he isn't a main character in most of the episodes, but the episodes that he IS are amazing.

e.g. the little league episode (with bat-dad), the internet episode (with brazilian fart porn), the homeless episode, the alcoholics anonymous episode, etc
#35
I'm watching the best of randy video and I'm at a part where Randy's getting a ticket for not wearing his seat belt on the toilet, what episode is this?
#39
I like South Park, it combines my love for crude, childish humour and applies it to modern-day topics, sometimes being even surprisingly insightful.

shouldn't be. 12-13 is when you transition into stuff like trailer park boys.
