I picked this up on Wednesday, I waited until now to post this because I wanted time to play the guitar for a while before I gave my opinion on it.
It's a 2014 Les Paul standard plus in Ocean water.
I was kind of reluctant to purchase another Gibson after the Last one I had, it was a 2008 Standard and the quality was horrible. It wouldn't stay in tune, it had quite a bit of orange peel on the top coat, color bleed onto the binding and it wouldn't stay intune 2 minutes.
After looking online at the pictures of this color and reading on how these new standards have a "Tektoid"(graphite if memory serves me right) nut, I decided to try it out.
Long and Mcquade brought it in for me and even restrung it with the cobalt slinkeys that they know I love. I opened the case and looked for imperfections.... no orange peel, no color bleed or anything I could spot!.
After getting home that evening I played it for a few hours, It actually surprised me... it held tune almost perfectly and sounded awesome.
The novelty of the push pull junk wore off after a couple times using them... Not really sounds I look for when I'm playing but kudo's to Gibson for packing that much into one guitar.
As mentioned above this is the Standard Plus with the AAAA flame top, It's a really nice top and the flames look 3D and change a bit depending on how the light hits it.
So far I'm really happy with this one, although it doesn't have quite as much balls as my strat to my ears anyway..... now you're all reading this thinking he's nuts
Anyway picture time.

And a picture of the above mentioned Strat for fun...

I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

It may be blasphemous, but I like your LP's back better than the front. And that Strat is sexy.

HNGD!

That LP is a beaut!

Is the Strat scalloped, or is it just the angle/light?

It's scalloped, it's actually a highly modded Yngwie strat.

Great looking guitar. I'd remove the "Rhythm/Treble" switch label and replace the golden speed knobs for clear ones, though, to emphasize even more that gorgeous flamed top.

I was thinking about putting the PRS style smoked knobs on it, but as for the Rythem/treble medallion I hate the looks of a Les Paul with out it lol... just looks too naked.

Which ones? Like these?

I think regular cilindrical speed knobs would look better. PRS lampshade knobs only work well with PRS's Mira and Starla pickguards, IMHO.

DAMN! thats one of the sexiest les pauls ive ever seen. i mean, im a les paul nay sayer and i want it.

...and it doesnt have the balls if your strat cause you have hot rails. those things are HOT and grinding. searing ceramic shrillness imo. not a fan, but they are HOT. im guessing you like a lot more for gain than cleans? i think the ceramic hotness is a bit too much for good cleans but they bite hard for gainey stuff.

Actually they clean up nicely with the 5150.
