Sup guys. I'm really in need of a cab upgrade, I'm playing my 6505 through a crappy Marshall cab my friend sold to me for cheap because I had an amp but no cab. The amp distortion sounds like shit through the speakers so I've had to resort to using my MT-2 for now until I upgrade.

I've been looking into a couple different Orange cabs:

http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-ORA-PPC412C-LIST - PPC412

and

http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-ORA-PPC412COM-LIST - PPC412 Compact

Also a Mesa/Boogie Rectifier cabinet

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RectCab412ST/

Plus some higher end Marshalls.

I play a lot of heavier stuff (Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat, Five Finger Death Punch, etc. ). So something that will sound good with my 6505. Any advice would be helpful
Guitars:
-Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Silverburst (Invader/'59)
-Ovation ApplauseAE44II Elite Black Acoustic

Amps/Cabs
-Peavey 6505+ Head
Orange PPC2x12 Cab Black
-Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 1x8 Acoustic Combo

Wayyyyy too many effects pedals...

What's the budget?

For guitar stuff, closed back is better if oversized, so I'd stay away from the PPC412COM.
Anyway, for that stuff, if the price isn't a problem I'd take the rectifier 4x12 indeed.

High quality cab, and I like mesa's v30 better than anything else for that genre.
If you're more on a budget, have a look at a used marshall mf280 or mf400.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

Get this if you want great sound for really cheap 4 V30's in an oversized cab. After taxes and shipping it will be $310ish depending on the tax in your state. www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Used-USED-MARSHALL-MF280A-4X12-280W-16OHM-MODE-FOUR-SPKR-CAB-110076109-i3719154.gc

or these are a few more good choices

The main reason I was looking into the PPC412COM is the price, but I'd hate to get it, then be disappointed, then have to go through having to send it back

I've been leaning towards the Mesa here lately

A friend of mine recently paired his 6505+ with a Mesa cab and I was very surprised with the sound. I always thought the 5150/6505's sounded beast with just about any Celestion G12 speaker but wouldn't rule out the Mesa at all after hearing that combo myself.

The Marshall MF is one of the best values in cabs I've found so far in terms of quality to price. However, the Mesa is built a hair better. If your budget allows, Mesa. You will not be disappointed with the Marshall though, and the K100s have a good deal more thump than the V30s IMO.

I like using a Diezel 4x12 for recording V30s. Sounds less boomy than the Mesa.

But if you're cranking your amps for gigs without an isolation, the Mesa slays IMO. It literally feels thunderous. It gives me a rush on stage.

i like Orange. i have two. i have a Mesa cab, as well as avatar. and another five or so that are cheaper with good speakers. but IMO orange makes a better cab. mesa is pretty close though.

thought of emperor cabs? they look yummy. but i don't know a ton about them.

krank makes nice cabs too.

I've been trying for a while to get my hands on an emperor. It seems they're not making cabinets anymore, and there are virtually none on the used market. Does anyone know the story?

Seems Krank is getting harder to find on the used market these days, GC has some, but not a lot compared to a month or 2 ago
