Hello, everyone. This is my very first post on UG.

I am a begginer guitarist of two years, is learning the path of lead guitar, and likes to play fast, although not as accurate as good players.

When I play fast got this problem; whenever I encounter one particular pattern in one string:

1-2-4, 3-4-6, 7-8-10

my fingers work just fine, and my ring finger mimics the movement of my pinky.

Whenever I play another:

1-3-4, 3-5-6, 7-9-10

my middle finger tucks back, and I find this delaying other fingers, thus unable to keep up with my right hand.

And by the way, I can't rotary pick fast, whenever I speed it up it turns to side-to-side motion.

I've read many articles about these, but none seem to be of any help.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Welcome to UG!

It sounds like you are suffering from some tension, and lack of finger independence. Here's a video posted by Freepower (a long time member of this forum), that I think has some really good tips.

In general, slow it down a bit and practice at a tempo where you're able to maintain good technique.

Thanks for your help.

I've read articles about finger independence, but this video is something else.
