So, what would the tuning be to play Slipknot on a 7 string? (they use drop b on 6 string guitars), also is there any way to tune a 7 string to drop b?

You would keep the low B string the same tuning and tune everything else up a whole step. Might want some lighter gauge strings for that. Like 10-56. Then just ignore the top string.

I would just play in standard B tuning and play the barred power chords as normal power chords. It's not that hard

^ Yes, that's possible, but playing some riffs will probably be very complicated that way.

Not really. Just adjust properly.
