I'm continually mucking about with my gear, and atm I have a bee in my bonnet about trapeze tailpieces.

I have a 1982 Matsumoku Westone 335 knockoff that is very good structurally, and in which I have installed good electronics. I have some decent solidbodies and acoustics, and I was wondering if I could get the Westone to a more halfway state between the two by replacing the stop tailpiece with a trapeze type, Perhaps a frequensator. I'm guessing that this would sacrifice sustain for resonance. Maybe use heavier strings than my usual 10-46.

What say?
