I'm currently using a squire fender strat bullet with beefy slinky strings. I'm currently playing some dethklok, kataklsm and amon amarth. I use peavey revalver mk3 vst for my amp.I would like to play in standard g/drop d also. 200$ budget.

With a floyd rose system will it hold tension to be able to switch between drop b / g? can I get them to switch everything up before sending the guitar?( I mean beefy slinky strings/ widening the nut)

If you're constantly switching tunings on one guitar, a Floyd Rose is not for you at all. It's a floating bridge so any time the tension changes (i.e. drop tuning or breaking a string) the whole guitar goes out of tune. I'd recommend looking at a fixed bridge, you'll get more for your money anyway. Where are you located and would you consider buying used?

Wow your craigslist is desolate...

No shame in checking your nearest Guitar Center or Sam Ash. Mainly just look for a dual humbucker setup and a fixed bridge. That's all I got. A 7 string wouldn't be awful either. I play a lot of Amon Amarth on my 7 because they use B standard and that's basically the bottom 6 strings on a 7. But your budget is a bit tight for that.

You could still do a lot better than those for the price. I've played Schecter SGRs and the Dean Vendettas and they just feel cheap. I found a pretty nice Epi LP on your craigslist if you're not against Gibsons. Or an LTD that appears to just need some pickups screws and you could probably get from the guy for $150 if you don't take the amp.

I'm not really feeling either of those. Even though that Les Paul seems legit.

This seems amazing it has emg pickups its 7 string and its the hellraiser model. Probably worth the extra 100$ ?

With used it's better to hold it and play it before you put money down, sorry to say.

I use my Omen 6 specifically for drop C. It does great and the stock pickups have a good metal sound through my setup. very tight, no mud.

I actually agree with the Omen 6 idea. Didn't realize it wasn't an SGR. Reverb.com isn't a bad idea either. It's a lot more reputable than sleezebay.

That's great news. I'm thinking about throwing some offers for these.

Hopefully 250-300$ will take one of them.

Do you have the stock pickups that are shown on the omen-6? I've seen quite a few options but I wasn't sure how they are.

Yeah, Schecter diamond plus series pups.

Remember: Only get the FR if you're going to leave in in one tuning only. You won't be able to change without re-floating the bridge. It's not impossible, just time consuming.

Ok cool, Yeah I'll stay away from FR for now. I don't think I've found one tuning in common between the bands I play.
