It has to to maintain orbit. Most satellites take ~90 minutes or so to complete an orbit.


I actually saw the ISS like two weeks ago. Crossed from one end of the horizon to the other in just over a minute.

Now that you mention it, I used to see a satellite every night at the same time going across the sky. The first time I saw it I took note of what time it was, thinking it was some ufo. Every night after that, I would see it and point it out to my friends saying, "There it is. It looks like a star only moving and it's there every night at virtually the same time".

I'm so glad I've been reminded of that.
