hi,

I have a LTD ec-256 for 4 months now. Nice guitar, good quality but the pickups aren't very good. I'm playing through an old peavey bandit 112
I could get a deal on some 498T/490R gibsons. Would this make a big difference?

I'd probably lose the split/coil feature???? Is there something else I should know about before buying and soldering?

Thanks!

If the 498T/490R are 4 conductor models you can still coil split them.

I had those pickups in my old LP studio and I liked them just fine

What's a good deal?

Get something as cheap as you can. No sense on dropping a bunch of money on pups when you're playing through a Bandit, IMO.

Personally, I think the LH-150s are quite good, as far as stock pickups go. What about the guitar's sound do you want to change?
