Just finding out about VST and I'm about to start trying out some plugins so I can hookup the old guitar to the and try out some effects. Does anyone have any nifty plugins they can suggest? The weirder the better.

Just for when someone moves this thread, i'll list what i've got so far, can get some decent tones for demoing at least.
Also they are all free.

Get all of these amps, and you'll also need cab impulses, for that i'd recommend the lecab 2. As for impulses, to start with get the redwirez ones from ignite, then just search around for other ones on forums etc.

Be warned though, some are very heavy processor heavy - e.g. I found running two 'hybrit' (marshall amp) tracks, took up about 50% or more of my CPUs processing power.

EDIT: also look in the recording forum, there is a tread dedicated to VSTs.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look there and yea that's what I was little bit afraid of, I've still got an old shitty 2 Ghz core duo processor, I'm thinking running some of the VSTs is gonna be absolutely brutal for me.

^ my 2007 macbook with a 2gHz dual core 2 duo has no problems running any amp sim apart from bx_rockrack when set on the high oversampling settings.

What OS were you using?
What processor were you using?
How did you load the two things?
How did you monitor the processing power of these two things?
Name's Luca.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.
