Oh god, a girl in my class wants tips on what guitar to get but never really listened to any music before besides when she turns on the radio on every once and a while. Did I mention she is cute? What do I do?

She's inexperienced.

Good opportunity to expose her to tech death metal.

Then interest her in something you both may like and go for it if you like her

But TDM in a comment above is a nice way too. Try to combine.
#4
If you yourself need tips in TDM, Gorguts, Cryptopsy and Obscura could be good starting points. Just don't make her learn Necrophagist right away, it's mildly advanced.

Just try to make sure that she buys a cheap guitar, like a Pacifica or an Affinity, so if she loses interest it's not that much of a financial loss.

Offer to give her a few beginner pointers, and teach her to play a couple of songs with (one of) your guitar(s), even before she buys one for herself.

And the fact that she never listened to any music before isn't an issue.
Before I started playing guitar, I wasn't very knowledgeable about music, and only listened to whatever was on the radio or MTV. People grow up and develop their taste.

Well what do I teach? I don't know if teaching her some songs is a good idea because what if she struggles with a note or something?

start with teaching her something really easy. when she feels comfortable, start with close hand-adjusting..
but really, just ask her what she really likes (I mean, there must be at least one song) and help her start
#20
What do YOU do? Nothing, let her learn guitar if she wants!
Friends, applaud the comedy is over.

I'd dance with you but...

If she struggles with something, you help her overcome that difficulty. That's the whole point of helping her.

As someone else already said, ask her what she likes. Based on that information, teach her a couple of easy songs. That way she'll have a taste of guitar playing.

Guys, this is the EG subforum.

It's the Pit.

Also make sure to tell her the G-string is commonly the hardest to tune.

Sounds to me like a mod wanted to have some fun then.

Also, first thing to teach her is to finger A-minor.
Hope you get to tap that like EVH TS.

Sounds like she's using your interest in music to get close to you. She likes you.

>Tell her she needs a Les Paul
>you'll go to the guitar shop to help her pick one out
>slowly turn it into a date

FTFY.

Also, real talk: let her use one of your guitars, teach a few easy 3 or 4-chord popsong and then she can decide if she wants to continue. if she wants she needs a beginner guitar.

first of all who is the angelic creature from your avatar???

For the answer of your question, prepare your asshole for endless questions and wonderwall. Also make sure she can play smoke on the water, stairway to heaven (intro only) and sweet child o mine (intro only) asap.
