HI guys,a beginner here.I have a question. So when you play acoustic guitar with a pick, where do you rest your picking hand? When its in the air i can do downstroke picking pretty well but i cant do alternate.I tried resting my hand behind the bridge and i can do alternate picking when i put it there but it doesn't sound right because i'm not picking above the sound hole. Can somebody tell me or show me a picture of proper picking hand position?

I strummed and played with my fingers and thumb for the time that I've played but just recently have starting using a pick. I'm pretty sure the correct way to do it is to not rest your hand or wrist or fingers. Rest your forearm as feels natural but don't put your palm on the bridge, or your pinky on the pick gaurd. It's harder than anchoring with palm/fingers, but It's the best way.
