I got a bass from a garage sale that looks similar to a jazz bass, but on the headstock it says chamin correa. There are no serial numbers or markings under the neck or under the pickgard. I have no clue how to date this thing or how to find out where it was made.

Chamin Correa makes guitars and basses; mostly knock-offs of big names like Gibson, Fender, etc. Most of the instruments I have seen with that name are acoustic guitars. I do not know where they are made - they may be imported from Korea, or they could be made in Spain or Mexico. I do not know of any database of serial numbers that would allow you to date them.
