Recently my Boss distortion pedal died after 6 years I got my use out of it. I play metal and hard classic rock. From Anthrax to Sabbath to Zeppelin. I'd like to keep the price under $150 for a good solid pedal that can scream and rumble. There are so many to pick from I'm unsure what to pick.

Thanks

Fender Stratocaster (Mexican)

for $150 you could pick up a a decent multi-fx pedal like the Zoom G3.
Gear:
Ibanez RG2EX1 Gravity Storm(neck)/X2N(bridge) Drop Db
Ibanez S421 Air Norton(neck)/Super Distortion(bridge) Drop D
7th Heaven->ML-2->Dr. Boogie->Zoom G3->GE-7->NS-2->Mute
Line 6 Spider II HD150+foot pedal
Some 4x12 cab

I recently picked up the Mooer Blade distortion pedal. Quite cheap and actually pretty damn epic! Worth a look perhaps.

are you looking for distortion or OD?

for OD: Timmy/DLS/OCD/Zendrive/CMATTMODS Signa Drive/

for Distortion, you won't get anything decent for $150. wampler would probably be the place to look. they aren't cheap, but they sound good.

This. My favourite pedal. You probably need an EQ to get some control of the heavy treble this thing delivers. Didn't like it at first but then I put my eq-pedal behind it and boom - epic Tony Iommi kinda sound.
It gives you a very thick, heavy sound without being too muddy. With some juicy mids added to your sound, this thing will melt your face. It's probably just a little noisier than other pedals I've had.

What amp do you have? Because I'm probably going to say you need a new amp.

Just get a Boss Me-25 Multi-effects. You say you were using a Boss before. Well this pedal will have the sound of your old pedal in the banks as well as like 7 other hardcore distortions. Some from Boss, Some other classics and two ultra modern distortions that sound EPIC!

Seriously, don't bother with anything else. I was blown away by this thing when I bought it, it replaced my zoom GFX-8 and destroys any zoom product especially in the distortion department.

if he is looking for an OD.

he hasn't told us anything. in his main post i was unsure if he meant 'distortion' or 'boost' to boost his distortion. he may not even be sure. but all we can do is wait until he comes back (which i am unsure if he will).

honestly the TS9 has a lot of gain, its in between an OD and a distortion. I use it to drive my big muff

Full tone GT500, has OD and distortion and can change which comes in first, and use one or the other or both.

nothing wrong with that. i just want the OP to come back. lol. he says "marshall amps" is he talking MG's? MA's? JCM's? DSL's? or a Class Five?

and we still don't know if he needed a distortion pedal or OD. he said is boss distortion died i would bet it was a DS1 (just out of numbers/odds). did he use that for a boost on his gain? or was he using it at the clean channel, which he would want a distortion pedal.
