What do you like collecting? Stamps? Books/Porn magazines? Pictures of ya mam?

Why do you collect said things?

How much money did you put into it?

Do you just collect casually, or are you taking it more seriously?

I've been getting into collecting Hotweels. I used to do it when I was really young but I was made to donate them all to charity when I was 12 or 13. I miss them, so I recently decided to collect them again. They're only a dollar per car so it's really easy to get back into the hobby and they're just as awesome as I remember. Even a lot of the newer cars are kickass.

For example:

This truck is call Fig Rig. It has studs in a couple of places on the car so that Lego minifigures can ride on it. Even the rear wing is shaped in such a way that Lego arms can clip onto it, so you can make the minifigure look like it's holding onto the wing. I would've gone apeshit for this if I had it as a kid.

I'm only casual though. I'm not going to spend $700 on a car. It boggles my mind that people are willing to spend that amount of money. I'm just doing it for fun and nostalgia.

So what about you? What do you collect?

I actually still have my collection of hot wheels cars from when I was a kid. Probably about 2,200 cars, all unopened.

I used to collect baseball cards, too. My oldest brother had much more than I did though.

Let's see....Batman figurines and cars...coins, NES games and guitars.

Edit- When I was really young, I used to collect keys and keychains. I had a huge bin of them. lol

OH! And Micro Machines and GI Joe stuff.

(i have one more but it's still in the box bcuz it's hard to assemble correctly )
but really, it's not a collection because i haven't bought any figures in a year, and i don't have the money to. when i finish school and get a job i'll be buying tons more tho.

also, i didn't put my hat there on purpose i swear. it's just coincidentally like that.

Ties, but only over the past two years while I was in sixth form. I didn't care for expensive and fancy ties - it was only for aesthetics. Besides, I was wearing these 5 days a week. Here's a few

ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL

I used to collect a bunch of stuff. Autographs, hats, stuffed animals from when I was a little kid, some Star Wars models from when I was 14, etc. Might get some pictures of the collections later when I have a chance.

I don't want to have things just for the sake of having them, so technically I'm not a collector. If you count having many things of the same type then I guess I have a CD collection and a guitar collection.

For some reason I have a movie ticket stub from every movie I've seen in a theater since I was about 12. I don't even know why I keep them. I swear it made sense at the time though. It would feel wrong to stop now.

Surely some people do

I could totally see someone just having a random collection of things for no reason whatsoever

Yeah, but you get my point. I don't have a problem with controlling my desire for material things.

I collect traditional instruments from around the world. I've invested multiple thousands of dollars in it, but it's totally worth it IMO. Nothing gets girls wet like russian squeezeboxes.

I do this for gigs & hockey games. Started doing it with tickets from maple leaf gardens when i was really, really little i guess. Sort of thing that will be nice to look at 20 years from now and spark a lot of nice memories.

i also have a giant hockey tape ball

Yea, I also have the stubs from sporting events I've gone to. They're kinda cool to look back on.

Actually I guess that's why I started doing the movie ticket thing. Because I've done the sports event ticket collecting since I was 7 or 8 probably.

i wish i did this. especially since i used to see movies at the theater with my uncle, his treat on a nearly weekly basis and he's done the same thing with stubs since he was little.

i kinda "collect" headphones, i suppose. they're probably my favorite thing to spend money on and i just loove trying new ones and everything i do revolves around having good but fairly inexpensive ones

getting a new pair in the mail tomorrow lol

I used to collect glass marbles when I was young (from the ages of like 4-10) so I have probably nearly 2000 in a box somewhere. I've not added to them or looked at them in ages though.
