6l6's. yep. those kt88's add some serious meat without all the fizz. i love my 6505 but i shouldve never listened to a slawn nitro with kt88's. i would cut my left pinky toe off if i could get my 6505 to sound almost similar. i play rhythm with zero leads... im chasing that old chunky ampeg vh-140c head tone. balls to the wall meaty chunky palm mutes

The nitro's with EL34 sound great too. It is less about the power tubes and more about the pre-amp design

wonder if i should sell my 6505 and orange cab and get a kemper. that way... i can get some killer tones of some bad ass amps and be able to play at bedroom volume and crank when i want

If you want a VH140C, buy a VH140C (or Crate GX-130C, same amp). They aren't expensive, especially the Crate.

Or of course, there is always the RM100. If you can't find an RM100 module that will do what you want, you aren't looking hard enough.

i love my kt88 nitro. even better? throw it in a cab with 2x12"+1x15".

every chug practically hits you in the balls once you really turn it up.

______________

the vh140c's aren't that hard to find, get one of those if thats what your chasing and an HM2.

but don't chase tone find what you like. a lot cheaper and more realistic, because studio tone is much different than what you hear coming out of amp.

First, I've gotta try this. I'll be right over.

just got through reading a bunch of reviews on the rm100. they have issues with fuses blowing and the transformers. that sux. i dont want to buy an amp that could possibly have issues down the road.

anyother suggestions?

Those are issues with every single guitar amplifier ever.

Any product can look bad when you look for negative opinions about it on the internet. Some are actually truly bad...

However, I really doubt the RM amps are of Bugera quality.

yeah if you don't want to chance that, buy an acoustic guitar

Any amp can develop problems no matter the cost. And if cathbard is OK with the Randall build quality, it is obviously a good amp
